About the Team

The Compute, Observability and Reliability (COR) team delivers dependable, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure services to help Bitstry engineers build and maintain production-grade cloud solutions. We're part of the Foundations organization, a group of teams dedicated to empowering engineers through infrastructure, services, storage, tooling, and documentation. COR partners across the company on challenges ranging from controlling infrastructure spending and boosting engineering productivity to expanding our application platform into new regions globally.

The Role

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) on the COR team, you'll build and support our Kubernetes infrastructure, manage cloud configurations, and oversee a significant portion of Bitstry's systems, particularly on Azure. You'll serve our internal customers (other engineers) with empathy and maintain a strong focus on system performance and stability.

In the Senior Staff SRE position specifically, you'll work independently and drive medium-scale technical projects from conception through completion without extensive oversight.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

You'll take on team projects focused on improving the platform we support, maintain and upgrade Kubernetes clusters on both EKS and AKS, implement new technologies (like Karpenter, KEDA, Istio, and others), modernize or rebuild infrastructure components, assist fellow engineers across the organization, respond to questions and requests through our Slack channel, participate in rotating on-call duties (handled as a team effort), and explore emerging technologies that align with our goals.

What We're Looking For

You should have solid expertise in Microsoft Azure, hands-on experience building and managing production Kubernetes clusters, the ability to troubleshoot complex Kubernetes issues, proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform or OpenTofu preferred), comfort working with Linux systems, experience with version control, and scripting skills in bash, Python, or similar languages. Golang experience is a bonus. Beyond technical skills, you're a collaborative person who isn't hesitant to ask for or offer help, committed to ongoing learning, able to communicate clearly in English, passionate about automating solutions, and willing to tackle challenging problems.
